Lion Chasers
I thought I wrote In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day for twenty-somethings. I was wrong! Of all the stories I hear from readers, I think the most encouraging are the fifty and sixty-somethings that aren't done chasing lions!
I just had lunch with the COO of the Spy Museum. Great museum by the way! One of the best, if not the best, in DC! Today was Paul's last day on the job because he's moving to Orlando to become director of campus development for Discovery Church.
Man, I'm inspired by twenty-somethings who take risks and chase lions. But I'm more impressed with fifty-somethings. They have more to lose. One of my prayers for In a Pit was that God would raise up a generation of lion chasers. I assumed it was Millennials. But I think it's Boomers too!

Your book crosses the generations in my household alone! I'm a 40+ mom who's about to put my house on the market to help plant a new church and your book hits right on in so many ways. My 15 yr old son is next to read it...I think you're hitting every age with this one!
Enjoyed hearing you speak at Evolve this past week!
Mark-
The data in the field shows that it is CROSS generational! Many of the guys on Peak Challenge 2007 were Gen Xers and Boomers. I just referred the book to a Gen X woman a week ago and have referred the book to several Boomers.
People from all walks of life respond to the thrill of the hunt found in 2 Samuel. Keep chasing lions and find some wild geese! :)
Mark, From the viewpoint of a 40 yr-old whom God is leading towards his first pastorate, I can say that the book has inspired me to look at my fears as opportunities. Thanks Man!
This is the church that I attended prior to moving to DC. Pastor Loveless is a phenomenal pastor and I got re-baptized there.
Mark,
I am 39 and I am reading your book a second time however this time I am reading it along with two other men that are older than me and we meet to each week to discuss it. It is amazing how much I am getting out of it a second time around.
I am a 45 year old woman who continues to be challenged by your book to face fears I've been running from for 20+ years. I now keep a Lion Chaser "journal" where God's victories are recorded. My dad enjoyed his copy so much he bought a case to share with co-workers. God is doing an amazing work! Thanks!
Mark,
it is good to read your blogs again itis alot like talking to you. Since the death of my mother in April of 2007 things have been very difficult for me. I am currently unemployed, loooking for work and a chruch here in Mineapolis. I miss you and everyone else at NCC. I miss Ebenzer's CoffeHouse. If Jesus would be ever so kind enough to give me the chance to see you and everyone there, I would love to come and visit.

Mark- I'm a 51 year old widower with an eleven year old daughter. My wife died 15 months ago and I've been struggling with how to find a balance between my responsibilities as a single parent and sole provider. Your book has inspired me like very few others I have read to "chase the lion" regardless of the costs. Thank you so much for speaking to the needs of this boomer.
Forgot to mention that I loved the book so much that I bought 10 copies at christianbooks.com. I am passing them out to those I encounter who are looking for encouragement to make major changes in their lives.
