TV Fast
As part of our discipleship covenant, Parker and I are going to fast TV for forty days. That is quite a commitment for a kid. I also want to use this time to help my son develop the daily discipline of seeking God via prayer and Scripture.
For what it's worth, I started observing Lent a few years ago. I think I fasted soda my first year. And it has made Easter so much more meaningful. I feel like I'm preparing myself spiritually to re-experience the crucifixion and resurrection.

Mark, this is my first year observing Lent and I must say that this observance is only on my radar because of reading your blog for the past 4 years. I also have decided to give up TV, I know that this is going to be real stretching experience for me but I truly can't wait to see what God does in my life through this fast. I also look forward to hearing about what God does and speaks to you and Parker over the next 40 days... I would love for you to check out my blog (http://axiomlive.blogspot.com) as I make this journey with you!
Lent tomorrow and I’m excited to hear so many people thinking about God!
Thanks for setting an example for everyone the way you’re fasting from TV for 40 days!
Give up coffee and all caffeine! Give 'till it hurts!

Please keep the blog updated about the TV fast. I think that is great and look forward to seeing how God uses it.
Kudos to you Mark. I highly respect this. I need to do the same. It's scary how hooked I am into TiVo and Soda. I need to give up one or the other, or BOTH for Lent and focus on God.

Mark, thanks for the challenge. I actually have several friends giving up TV for lent. My wife and I are now going to pursue it... the only problem is March Madness. :) Ouch.
Drew,
Ouch. Didn't think of that :) You just made my fast so much more meaningful.
Mark
