Whirlwind Week
Can't believe the family is flying home tomorrow! I'm sticking around for a few days to speak at the Awaken Conference. Man, this week flew. Last night we swung by the Crystal Cathedral since it was about a mile from our hotel. Really inspiring to see it in person.
For what it's worth, we were inspired to meet in a theater because that's how Willowcreek and Bill Hybels got their start. And if I remember right, Bill Hybels may have been inspired by the Crystal Cathedral and Robert Schuller because they started out at a drive-in movie theater.
We topped things off today with a visit to Legoland. Definitely geared towards little kids, but very cool place.
I feel like part of my job as a parent is to create memories. We definitely created some this week. It'll be interesting to see what the kids remember when they grow up.

To create memories and give experiences ... that's part of what we did when we took some church members to the Port of New Orleans on a mission trip. We opened their eyes to new experiences outside of the Mid-atlantic. In the words of Len Sweet, it's EPIC.
Just a warning about what kids will remember:
When I was 5, my parents took me and my sister to visit relatives in Europe. At the end of the day in which we went to the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, and a couple other amazing places in Paris, my parents asked me to recount what we had done. I said we had eaten lots of ice cream.
