Fermi Short

I love the way Gabe Lyons and Fermi are reshaping church and culture. I recently wrote a Fermi short titled Postmodern Wells. I share some of the backstory behind Ebenezers and how we created a third place in our Capitol Hill community.

Here's a link if you want to check it out.

Mark,
I just got back from Mexico. While going through the mail, I spotted the Wild Goose Chase from Becca. I AM SOOOOO EXCITED ABOUT THIS BOOK! The Lord has clearly blessed you with the ability to write reflectively. I find myself rereading passages and being consumed with self-reflection and evaluation. Thanks for being real. Abby

Cool, that's a great article! I love what they're doing too, and I love what ya'll are doing at Ebenezer's.

It's very unique, the outside of the box thinking that's being birthed in your city. What do you think gave you the passion to step out from the norm and take such a big risk like "Ebenezers?"

Rob,

I honestly think it was praying for so many years--it built confidence, it gave us a foothold, and we really felt like God gave the green light!

I think prayer is the key to discerning what risks you need to take. You need to pray through.

My short answer :)

Is there somewhere photos of Ebenezers? Do u actually have the church gathering in the coffeshop on Sundays? Is there a stage? Sound setup?

Mark,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yeah, I think I might have been the first. I think I put together several desks in office and moved several boxes of books upstairs. My time there also introduced me to video editing. That was a great summer.

I also remember being with you as we broke down the door to get inside the property where Ebenezer's now is located. I remember thinking the whole coffee house thing was a bit crazy because that building was such a dump. Hopefully the foolishness of my youth is behind me now!

One of these days I've got to come back and visit again.

Thanks for everything and take care.

Ewald,

It's three levels. The lower level is performance space and we do two Saturday night services. That is where we capture messages in high definition for our three movie theater locations.

I think www.ebenezerscoffeehouse.com might have some pictures!
