Another crazy weekend at NCC. Someone was doing coke in one of our services. And I'm not talking Coca-Cola. That's a first. But it's one reason why I love where we're at. Such an amazing cross-section of people.
Every weekend we have pastors visiting, but this weekend was off the hook. The pastor who interviewed me for credentials when I was in seminary was in church. That was sort of surreal. I didn't know he was going to be there and I spotted him in the middle of my message. We had a delegation of forty pastors from South Korea. I met the Junior High Pastor from Willowcreek who was on vacation. And some pastors from our Unplugged conference who stayed over for the weekend.
The theme this week was Make us Dangerous.
Really felt like I was running on fumes. Unplugged knocked me out physically. So it was tough to gear up for the weekend. But God has a way of making up for what we lack doesn't He?

I'm curious, how do you handle a guy doing coke in your service?
BTW, love what you guys are doing. I totally enjoyed being at Buzz last year.
Tell them to stop :)
Actually, I didn't have any interaction with the person. Haven't debriefed on it yet.

I was sitting across the aisle from the lady in question. Pastor Chris and me both noticed her rubbing her lips and gums for a good portion of the service. She was also acting as if she had drank a few pots of coffee, a good sign of cocaine use. I really couldn't say that's what was doing as I did not see any subtance but I would not be surprised. I have a few thoughts as to what she may have been on aside from the suspected cocaine. I've seen her at church before enjoying the breakfast, maybe there's a way to help her when she visits again.
Pastor Mark... You may have felt like you were running on fumes, but you should know your message was unbelievably timely for my boyfriend and I. I felt like we could've been the only two in the room. We walked away from the 5pm service at ebz totally blessed and humbled by the way the Lord used you to speak directly to our circumstance.
Just wanted you to know that we used your OnePrayer message last Sunday. Everyone was blessed and challenged.
God Bless

Thanks Steve :)
Mark,
Kathy and I really got a lot out of the sermon last Sunday. You likely know the great quote attributed to G.B. Shaw that fits perfectly with your message. In case not: "Ships in harbors are safe....But that is not what ships are built for."

Greg
