Jesus didn't die to keep us safe. He died to make us dangerous! The will of God is not an insurance plan. It's a daring plan. In fact, the will of God doesn't get easier. God gives us more difficult, daring, and dangerous things to do! Read Hebrews 11.
Danger is one of the themes of Wild Goose Chase. And it's the theme of my One Prayer message this weekend: make us dangerous.
In the words of a daring twentieth-century missionary, C.T. Studd, "Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell."
The church needs more Studds! And you can quote me on that.

Thanks for this Mark. We are launching our church plant in downtown Atlanta later this year based greatly on our belief in the premise that God wants us to be dangerous. That's just our basic interpretation of the Bible. Looking forward to your book man.
Take care,

Thanks Mark-I just got through talking about this subject with a bunch of our guys and I wish I would have seen this earlier. Great stuff-we do need more STUDD'S
Great post, Mark. I like the words of G.K. Chesterton in his book Orthodoxy, "Orthodoxy makes us jump by the sudden brink of hell; it is only afterwards that we realize that jumping was an athletic exercise highly beneficial to our health…”. Unfortunately the attributes of risk and challenge which had defined the early church, has been substituted for safety and security. Good Godly qualities as well, but not at the expense of the mission and orthodox living, which calls us out.
Good stuff. Thanks.
My message tomorrow is on Esther. She was willing to face danger to be obedient. So was her cousin Mordecai. May we have that kind of passion.
So that's where Steve Camp got that introductory line from in his song,
"Run to the Battle"....
Some people wanna live
Within the sound of a chapel bell
But I want to run a mission
A yard from the gates of hell
And with everyone you meet
I'll take 'em the gospel and share it well
And look around you as you hesitate
For another soul just fell
Let's run to the battle
Great quote, man. I love it and can't wait to read the new book.
