Vintage Summer

So every summer our family has a summer theme. It's kind of goofy and kind of cool. In years past, our themes have ranged from "the summer of simple pleasures" to "the summer of adventure."

Drum roll please...

This year we're going with "vintage." Actually Lora's idea. I was thinking "good old-fashioned fun." But vintage has a nice ring to it. Basically, we want to focus on doing anything besides video games. I'm not kidding. We want to have some old-school fun with things like hiking, canoing, ice cream cones, frisbee, concerts on the mall, camping, slip-n-slide.

So vintage it is.

Wow! That just sounds like so much fun. Makes me want to sip a lemonade on the porch!

Adding that to list :) Lemonade or Kool Aid. Not that's vintage!

Oh, if you are going to go with the lemonade/kool aid I think that a lemonade stand at the end of the drive way is a must. I did that all the time back in the day!

What an awesome theme. I hope you have a memory-making summer as a family.

that's wicked cool!

I think my wife and I should do that, our dogs would probably vote for the theme to be around water, bones, or nice long walks through the "cat hood"

Sounds like a nostalgic trip down Coney Island row with a good coney island hot dog in tow!

I believe I have subtly influenced you almost hypnotically when we hung out recently and actually deserve the credit for you thinking of that name.

Dan,

Definitely need to give credit where credit is due my friend :) If people could own words you would own vintage :)

Pastor Mark,
I do have an old fashioned manual ice cream maker that is collecting dust I will send through the mail if someone COMMITS to actually using it.

This will be the 2nd year one of our Student Ministry summer activities is a 250 Foot Slip 'N Slide. When I read your post I thought "Hey, they could come to our slip 'n slide night!" But then I realized how awkward a family outing that would be and laughed out loud...

Which drew some funny looks from the people around me...

Needless to say, I wholeheartedly support your Slip 'N Slide love...
