Back from Vacation

What a great Selah! Totally unplugged for a solid week. I've got to dig out from under 387 emails, but it was worth the break. Like lots of pastors, I have a tough time with the fourth commandment. It's hard to take a Sabbath. Honestly, part of the reason is that I love what I do. But it was good to check out for a week. And I'm grateful for an amazing team at NCC that allows me to check out without losing any sleep. NCC doesn't skip a beat.

Our family spent the last week in Rehoboth Beach. It's become our summer tradition. So cool to have a place to "go back to" every year as the kids grow up. Our family went to Lake Ida in Alexandria, Minnesota every year when I was a kid. I think we kept the streak alive for nineteen years! I really want to give my kids the same vacation tradition.

Good times. Good memories.

Good for you Mark. No one on their death bed ever said, I wish I'd preached that Sunday I spent with my kids.

Mark - way to go. I know what you mean, I recently jumped in a van with my friend from So Cal and Souldog Clothing to hit some festivals and travel the east coast - after 13 states, 2700 miles and no phone calls I started to realize how valuable that tech free experience was....I think I'll be more intentional about detoxing each year.

Welcome Home, Pastor Mark! I "unplugged" from internet and email since last Tuesday (while visiting family) and thought I could more easily go on a food fast ...

Lake Miltona in Alexandria and Otter Tail Lake in Battle Lake is where my family regularly took our summer vacations. It was awesome!

Being able to get away is invaluable and it's a great sign of leadership when things run fine without you!

M,

Glad you had some great R & R with your family. My wife has to work full-time so time away is rare and when it is we usually go see our grandson. However, we will get away for a couple of days in November. I am going to the Sticks Conference and she is coming just to be with me. She will "babysit" our grandson while I do the conference. Praying for you while you prepare for that.
