Temporary Tattoos

We're going to give NCCers some tattoos this weekend. That's a first. Thought it'd be a fun way to encourage people to chase the Goose. But I also think it's a unique twist on Deuteronomy 6:4-9.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads . Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

The bottom line is this: we tend to remember what we should forget and forget what we should remember. So we need to find ways to keep things at the forefront of our consciousness. A temporary tattoo is one way of doing that.

What's the 2nd temp. tat stand for? It appears to be a take on the trinity symbol, but the "braiding" threw me off.

Yeah I like the idea of the 2nd one. I have been wanting to get a tattoo for awhile and I have always had the trinity symbol in mind. Explain the 2nd one some more please.

Here's the scoop. I'm not 100% sure on the meaning. But it seems to be a variation on the Trinity or Eternity--two common symbols in Celtic culture. My publisher actually integrated the design into the book so it doesn't originate with me. But it's a pretty common symbol. That's the short story.

Just so you know - these tattoos will no longer be usable if you leave them in your shirt pocket and your unsuspecting wife puts it through the laundry. Just ask Jared :)
