This summer I started to twitter and I love it. I don't think twitter has reached technological saturation within the church community, but I'm an advocate. It is basically a tool to share short life updates, 140 characters, on what you're doing or thinking at any given time.
Yes, I know it can seem somewhat narcissistic. Who cares what I'm doing! And, yes, it can be a waste of time if you follow too many people. But here is why I love it. I love it because it gives me a sneak peak into the lives of the people I follow.
For the record, I follow about 40 people. I follow our staff. And I also follow some friends. And I honestly like knowing what movies they're watching or when their flight is delayed or when one of their babies had a rough night.
I think twitter technology has huge prayer potential. One of our staff members and his wife are at the hospital right now getting ready to have a C-section. The twitter updates help me know how to pray!
I love twitter!

I started following you after I won "Wild Goose Chase" from @jrleckie's blog review. I love twitter for the tribes it has created throughout many connections in my life. I am also amazed a how many new friends I have made through it. It is an incredible tool.

I love twitter, too! It provides a more fleshed-out perspective of what my pastors at NCC are like outside the church. :) Even your normal lives and small daily gripes and tiny 140-character-limited words of praise are fascinating.
Yeah, Twitter Rocks!

I hope more pastors will begin to see the value in this and keeping up with engaging their people through out the week.
Mark - you are right on! I just starting "using" Twitter yesterday. I got the account right after "White Board Sessions" and started following you and others. I was just thinking this morning what you can learn about those you follow and how you can pray for each of them because of what they share!
I've been following your blog for a few months now. I'm from Springfield, and saw your post on ABC books, and enjoyed going to ABC myself. I drove by yesterday and noticed that it was empty and the yellow overhang wasn't on the store anymore! Thought you'd want to hear the news. I also think that twitter has great potential for prayer! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
For us real tech-nerds, it's interesting to follow Twitter updates at an event like Catalyst. I could read the thoughts not only of our team but of people from around the country (and possibly the world) with whom I had never had contact before. I love the sort of custom chat-room it generates, and I hope it will catch on to the point that it reaches critical mass even at smaller events.
