This weekend we took our annual survey.
The survey helps us keep tabs on demographics. It also helps us gauge vision. We haven't really done any vision casting for our next launch yet, but we asked our congregation if they'd be willing to be part of our next launch team. Really pleased with the response! Nearly 100 people said definitely or probably. And we had more than 250 maybes. Pretty amazing given the fact that the next location is a little further away and we haven't cast vision yet. I think those numbers assure me that multi-site is in our DNA. And I think the willingness of so many NCCers to be part of something new says they are playing offense for the Kingdom. Really good vital sign.
I'll blog more details ASAP. But we will launch in February 09.

Mark, if it is possible can you share some of the results related to that annual survey and the % of the response. I have for many years been responsible for survey in the corp. world and now trying to get my mind around an effective survey tool within ministry.
Hey Roy,
We're crunching numbers now. We'll process at staff retreat next week. I'll blog on it :)

Mark,
Why don't you plant a church instead of adding another site? That way the plant can be contextual and speak to the needs of the community.
David,
Not sure how familiar you are with multi-site, but that is precisely why we're launching a fifth location. To be contextual and speak to the needs of the community. We feel like it's good stewardship. Want to take the lessons we've learned and continue launching new locations to reach more people.
We actually take a both/and approach. We launch new locations and new churches. Have a capacity on staff called church planter in residence. And the multi-site model is a great learning environment for church planting. Great win/win scenario.
Hope that helps,
Mark
Mark,
Last July, I was on a business trip in DC and I went to one of your services.
In Puerto Rico, we are not used to this kind of model. It is more common the traditional model where a church is built in every corner. In Puerto Rico has the highest rate of churches per mile square. On the other hand, this does not mean that we are being effective reaching people.
Can you recommend me a book or any other material related to the multi-site model?
check out "The Multi-Site Revolution" by Surratt, Ligon, and Bird. Great stuff.
could you post some of the questions you used and format? maybe post the survey as a PDF.
thanks so much for all you do.
Jorge,
there is also a book that is to be released end of April, "Multi-Site Churches: Guidance for the Movement's Next Generation" by Scott McConnell.
