At our staff planning retreat we had an idea. We all get a million catalogs at Christmas. Why not produce a Christmas catalog with tangible gifts that people can give to missions?
The end result? NCCers have given $51,880 . That includes 305 goats for families in Ethiopia; 1517 bricks to build an orphanage in Uganda; 4 huts for widows in Malawi; and scholarships for 29 girls in Thailand to get their High School diploma.

Heifer.org has been doing that for a while. We used it as a mission project at Christmas once.

World Vision does a great job with the same thing! Good work. It's great that you can tailor one to your congregation
brilliant. Can't wait til next Christmas.
I don't know if I've ever heard a more simple, yet profound idea for the Christmas season EVER!
I'm totally stealing that for our missions department. Great job NCC!
Wow. That idea is ridiculously great. Wow. I'm totally dumbfounded. I can't wait to read more of your blog. I hope some of the other stuff in here is as awesome as this.
Samaritan's Purse sends out a catalog of gifts to give others every Christmas as well. Hey, great minds think alike!
Also, as Christmas tradition, we "purchase" a gift from Samaritan's Purse (donation for a goat for a village, sports equipment for a village, etc.) for each family member and put it in their stockings. It's a fun way to give to missions.
that is wonderful!! all good ideas are God ideas!!!
wow, what a great idea... will really have to look at doing this next year at our church.
Way to go! One addition from our end.
We've been doing this kind of catalog for the last 4-5 years, we call it Operation Christmas Connect. Always had about 20-30k given (church of about 1000) then last year we slimmed down the options and gave everyone a 1% challenge -- Christians give about 1/2 of 1% towards issues of global poverty...let's double it -- Last year we gave $120,000 this year close to $140,000. Focus and a specific challenge took and good thing forward about 5 fold.
