A place to go back to

Bookmark and Share

We all need a place to go back to.

Going back to my Alma Mater was so good for me. Took me back to my primal calling. Lots of amazing memories in the chapel, in the classroom, and on the court.

I think altar making is a lost spiritual art form. Read the Old Testament and it seems like they were building altars everywhere all the time! Why? I think part of the answer is that we need a place to go back to. Isn't that what communion is all about? It is a pilgrimage back to the foot of the cross.

Did Abraham ever revisit the thicket on Mount Moriah where God provided a ram? Did Moses ever revisit the burning bush? Did David ever go back to the battlefield where he defeated Goliath? Did Peter ever row out to the spot on the Sea of Galilee where he walked on water? Did Paul ever go back to the mile marker on the Road to Damascus where God knocked him off his horse? Did Zacchaeus ever go back and climb the sycamore tree where he got his first glimpse of Jesus? Did Lazarus ever revisit the tomb where he was buried for four days?

Thank God for places to go back to. Thank God for the cross!

Hey Mark. I hear ya. I think about CBC regularly. I have reoccurring dreams about going back. Someday I will.
