Boom. Done.

Bookmark and Share

On this day seven years ago, I signed the contract for 201 F Street, NE. I remember it like it was yesterday because I was at the Washington Hospital Center. Josiah had been born the day before so our lawyer had to bring the documents to the hospital for me to sign.

For those of you who don't know the backstory, we prayed for that piece of property for five years! We did everything from prayer walks to the laying on of hands. And that's why we own it.

We found out, after purchasing it, that four parties offered more money for it. And two of them were real estate developers! We shouldn't own 201 F Street, NE. The only explanation is Matthew 18:18: "What you bind on earth will be bound in heaven." When we started praying for this piece of property, I believe God put a contract on it. How it didn't sell for twenty years is an absolute mystery! Yes, it was a rundown crackhouse. Yes, it had zoning issues. But it's kitty-corner to what will be the largest office building in DC. It's one block from Union Station. It's five blocks from the Capitol. It forms the NW corner of the Capitol Historic District. To borrow the real estate axiom: location, location, location. It is nothing short of miraculous that no one bought it. Again, it's Matthew 18:18.

I think we grossly underestimate our spiritual authority in Christ. When we ask for something that is in alignment with the will of God it's a done deal.

Boom. Done.

Just wanted to say thanks for the post. It gave me a boost today. I'm hoping to visit Ebeneezer's next time I'm in DC.

Grace and Peace,
Mark

Mark,

Thanks for sharing todays post. In my heart I believe there is a building here in the Buffalo area that is a perfect location to do ministry that meets people in the marketplace. I have been claiming that building and praying for it every time I drive by for the last year. I will continue to trust God for it and let His will be done.

Great to see you again a few weeks ago at your office.

Kevin

Thanks for this post. I was recently offered a youth director position at another church in our area and closer to my home. I know there are a bunch of other people in the area that are more qualified and equiped for it but it was offered to me. I'm praying and seeking guidance on it. I'm going to meet with the pastor pretty soon. This just helped me with it a little. Thanks again Mark.
