Weekend Reflections

Loving the Greater Things series! Feeling the fire and having fun. Talked about the man in John 5 who had been paralyzed for thirty-eight years when Jesus healed him. Trust me, this guy wasn't just walking. He was skipping around the pool of Bethesda like a little kid. He was doing the running man and moon walk. For the record, I actually did a little running man and moon walk at our Georgetown location. That's a first. Hey, by the third message you loosen up a little bit.

A few other things.

First,
we have a 6:30 service @ Ebenezers! Man, our 5 PM service was fuller than full. Would some NCCers think about making the move to 6:30? We need to free up some seats so people can invite people!

Second, we have gotten some purses stolen @ Union Station the last few weeks. Just wanted to give folks a heads up. Love the fact that we're in a marketplace environment where that can happen. Hate that it actually is happening!

One more thing. My phone rang during my sermon @ Union Station. Really appreciate my friend Doug Miller calling to tell me he was thinking of me and praying for me! Pretty funny to have to admit during your own sermon that it is your phone that is ringing! Of course, that isn't as bad as the time my phone rang while I was officiating a wedding!

I have never heard anyone unpack scripture with so much insight, Pastor Mark. "Do you want to get well?" is really THE question. It became the topic of conversation over yesterday's lunch and will be a part of my men's study this week.

In October, my parents -- in their mid-70s -- visited NCC with me. Both were blown away by your messages, and my dad said your sermon on evolution (Elephant in the Church series) was the best sermon he'd ever heard. He's not one to throw out comments like that lightly.

Bottom line is thank you and keep doing what you're doing. God is really using you in my life and the lives of others.

(P.S. I was at Kingstowne this week, so I couldn't have stolen the purses.)

Geoff,

Thanks for the kind words. And we'll take you off our suspect list :)

Mark,

Sorry about the phone ringing during your service. I really was praying for you and NCC. I will make sure that my phone is off next week!

Thanks for all you do.

Mark,

As a "Plum Creeker" here in CO, just thought you should know that Doug will be preaching most Sundays at 10:30am, 11:45am, and 1pm your time if you needed to give him a jingle. :) HA!
