I shared something this weekend in my message that I don't think I've ever shared publicly. A few days after my first book, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day, came out I was speaking at a conference with Tommy Barnett. Tommy is the consummate visionary. After he spoke, he invited people to come forward for a multiplication anointing. Honestly, I wasn't sure if that was in the Bible. But if Tommy was offering then I was taking.
In all seriousness, I believe God is in the multiplication business. He wants you to be a hundred times more fruitful than you are now. Not for you. For Him. And it's not just a quantitative multiplication. It's also a qualitative multiplication. But in God's economy, 5 + 2 = 5000 R12.
Long story short, I asked God to multiply my book for His purposes. I knew that 95% of books don't sell 5000 copies. But in a moment of bold faith, I asked God for 25,000 copies. But the truth is, in the deep recesses of the spirit where we dream God-sized dreams, my whisper number was 100,000 copies.
While I was writing the book I had a team of NCCers praying for me. They also prayed for divine appointments that the book would get into the right hands at the right time. The reason I have a sense of destiny about my books is that everyone who reads one of my books has been prayed for. That's why I don't view a book sold as a book sold. I view every book sold as a prayer answered.
Well over 100,000 prayers have come off the press, and I'm believing God to answer a quarter million prayers. But I won't tell you my whisper number.

Wow! my friend JUST texted me a half hour ago about doing this book on my blog study. This is awesome! thanks for the prayers and the example of taking God at His Word... that with Him NOTHING is impossible!
This is exciting. Amazing what God can do. I experienced one of those whispered-prayer miracles today too.

I'm one of those people you've prayed for and I can assure you that I have been challenged by your writing. To God be the glory!
Does this mean I can pray this for the church I pastor? :) ON a more serious note: thanks for the good words Mark. I am one who looks forward to being part of "the number" in the next book.

Mark,
I am thrilled to see that God is using you to get the word out about how exciting a relationship with God can be! As I have said (many times) - that book changed my life! Many more blessings to you and yours!
Isn't it cool that God usually decides to answer the "whisper numbers" that we pray. I think most of the time, that whisper is really a whisper of the Holy Spirit :)
thanks for inspiring us to pray bigger Mark!
Louisville, KY - I was given this book by our pastor in Louisville. I've read this book and the new one: "Wild Goose Chase." I just got back from a whirl wind tour of Ethiopia Africa and you cannot say that your commentary on "breaking out of our routines" to do what God wants, didn't affect me, it clearly did. I want to do more and "seize the day" more often now and by hearing more inspirational encourgements from your writings. Thanks for sharing your heart in these books. I share these books now with friends and just hope they catch the fire also of getting out of their routines to follow the will of God. Praise God from whom all blessing flow. Thanks again!!!
Mark,
This book sits 2 feet from me or in my hands, we did a Men's Bible Study using the book, I have it on my LinkedIn book list, and on the "Top Leadership Books" list. More need to read and use in this current economy because it is us the people who will fix USA, not the folks over there on Capitol Hill -- Let's pray it to 200k. Thanks - Looking forward to the new book as well!
Mark, I am reading In a Pit right now. Having already read Wild Goose, and having really enjoyed it, I was looking forward to going back to your first book. Turns out, it was a divine appointment, one of those moments you talk about where the book is in the right hands at the right time, a particular moment of need. I have been having a horrible time of life and faith and your book has been used to speak powerfully into my life. Prayer well answered, I would say!
By the way, all the way across the other side of the world in New Zealand, I am telling everyone about your books!
I read this book in literally 3 days. My Dad bought it for all of us for Christmas, and it ROCKED MY WORLD! I have bought the book and passed it on to AT LEAST 6 different people.
I read Wild Goose Chase as well, and the timing of everything was impeccable. God is using you in such a powerful and mighty way!
Cogratulations Mark! That is a great approach, and In a Pit With a Lion is a phenomenal book. I took it with me to Ghana in 2007 and preached from many of the points and stories within.
You are a gifted communicator and I appreciate your way of letting God flow through you.
Blessings,
Chad Houck
