I'm off to Arizona.
I've been anticipating this weekend for quite some time. I only get six weekends off for vacation and speaking so I don't speak at many other churches, but this one is special. In my book, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day, I tell a story about my friend Lee McFarland who pastors Radiant Church in Surprise, Arizona. I'm speaking there tonight and tomorrow.
Here's the backstory. Lee was on the executive track at Microsoft when he felt called to church planting. He gave up 16,000 stock options valued in the seven-digits. And I love the prayer he prayed: "God, give me one soul for every stock option I'm giving up." God is well on His way to answering that prayer! Lee is one of the most down-to-earth guys you'll ever meet. Can't wait to hang out this weekend.

second time I've heard of this church in two days... yesterday it was for their web poll on if people think Obama is the anti-Christ...
Have a great time. I did a funeral at Radiant awhile ago for a young man who was in my youth group. My former student's church meets in a school so Radiant offered one of their fellowship rooms for the service, it was packed out! The church was VERY generous and showed great hospitality. I loved their drive through coffee hut!
