We just had a prayer pep rally as a staff. We don't do them every week, but sometimes we have so much going on that I feel like we need to circle back at the end of the week to pray. During our prayer time on Tuesday, I sensed God wanting to do something unexplainable and uncontrollable. Honestly, I've prayed that for years. I'm hungry to see God do something that we not only cannot take credit for, but that we cannot even explain. Why? So God gets all the glory!
Sometimes when I pray I see a picture or have an impression. During our prayer today, I saw a jet stream in my mind's eye. Came out of nowhere. I felt like God was inviting us into the flow of what He's doing. In some ways it's scary because you are yielding to a power that is uncontrollable. But is anything more exciting than seeing God move in ways that are beyond our ability?
For what it's worth, jet streams are narrow air currents typically found between the troposphere and stratosphere. Ever wondered why your flying time is shorter when you travel east? It's the westerly winds in the Northern Hemisphere. Not only does the jet stream shorten flight times, it also cuts fuel costs. In many ways, living a spirit-led life is like flying with the jet stream.
What I'm getting at is this: God is up to something. I believe we're on the verge of a spiritual breakthrough at NCC the likes of which we've never experienced. I don't know why. I don't know when. But I sense it in my spirit. And I for one desperately want to see the Holy Spirit moving in me, through me, and around me.

More confirmation that I came to the right place at the right time, how exciting! Looking forward to following and being swept up in the holy jet stream
I, too, want so desperately to be right where God is moving - to be filled with the Spirit - to hear His incredible voice - to see visions. Waiting for that incredible experience.....
In 2009 I have had small, fleeting glimpses of the Spirit moving in our church in a way that none of us can take credit for. In the early church in the book of Acts, this was an every-day-occurence. That's what I long for in the church of the 21st century!
Awesome!! So much spiritual truth in that little picture. Thanks Mark!
I was blown away seeing the title of your post. About 2 weeks ago in a prayer group at our church in Juneau, AK. I saw the same thing! At first, I couldn't figure out the word and kept saying "like a river of air." Then the next morning I was praying and heard that word, "jet stream."
Anyway, thanks so much for the confirmation! I am so excited to see what God is doing.
"Not to us, O Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, b/c of your love and faithfulnees." Psalm 115:1
