Brett Favre

Bookmark and Share

I can't keep silent any longer. As a life-long Vikings and Packers fan I have to go on record. And, no, that wasn't a misprint. I was born in Minneapolis and lived in Wisconsin as a kid. I've got purple and green in my veins. How can I love two rivals? I have no idea, but I do. I just hate it when they play each other.

Here's the bottom line: I hope Brett Favre comes back for another season. If he does, I predict the Vikings will win the NFC North with a record of 11-5. The Packers will improve to 10-6 and earn a wild card. And the Vikings will be playing in the Superbowl. There you have it.

If Favre doesn't return? This blog post will self-destruct.

By the way, I'm actually waiting until Favre makes a decision to make my decision on whether or not to get the NFL Sunday Ticket.

Hi Mark. I live in central western WI where you have some Viking fans and mostly Packer fans...but I've never heard of anyone being a fan of both! I don't know how you do it! Go Vikes!

Hey Mark, though I think another Favre return would make some interesting story lines, I would prefer for the whole thing to just be done. I'm sick of the football world being held captive by this guy every offseason. He has driven me to a point of not liking him anymore. Sorry if this seems inditing of Favre, but the whole thing just makes me mad.

Ok.., Mark - throwing the BS flag on ya! Ooops.., I mean the yellow flag! You may be right up to the point where they make it to the Super Bowl - because they will have to get past the Philadelphia Eagles to do so! Playoff Prediction if Favre does return - 4 interceptions and 5 sacks from the vaunted Eagles defense with Adrian being held to under 50 yrds rushing. Score - Eagles 24 Vikings 10.

This post will not self-destruct. LOL!!

IHL,

Richie

Well said. I am also waiting on the Direct Ticket option until this is decided. I am a bigger Favre fan than I am of either the Packers or the Vikings. Southern Mississippi allegiance runs deep. I don't care where he plays as long as he does and has a chance to win it all again.

I can't believe anybody can be a Vikings and Packers fan. I'm a diehard Cheesehead. If Favre plays for the Vikes, he's an enemy to me.

Mark....

As a fellow Packer fan first, Viking fan 2nd... I really feel your pain.
As a fellow minister in Christ... i highly respect you.

However....
All this Viking Farve talk is media and MN hype. I say that with confidence, because without this circus of talk on Brett Farve, there is nothing to be said for the Vikes. Here in MN... it's silence, no excitment and very little expectations for the purple and gold.

Plus, I REALLY believe Farve could have plyed one more year with the Pack... last year. But When he retired the first time.... I really hoped that he had stayed retire. Gone out on top.
The truth us, he play an entire season... we saw that with the Jets last year. It's just too much on the body. So he can't really help the Vikes win it all either. Sorry, but out boy needs to really hang'um up, go fishing, get his TV deal, become a QB coach and enter the Hall of Fame.

By the way.. the Packers record will be better than the Vikes.

Wow @curtis, those are fighting words.

The vikings are one hall of fame quarterback away from the super bowl. Brett Favre is a winner...

Even if he isn't in the best shape of his life, he'll still motivate the younger Viking offense to rise to their potential.

If he signs, it's next stop super bowl.

As a Packer fan (and almost more of an anti-vikes fan), if Farve goes to the Vikes, he can go into the hall as a vike!

And what all of you Packer and Viking fans forget is that the Bears have become a better team over the off season as well.

The Packers are still rebuilding, enough offense not enough defense.

The Vikings will be tough WITH Farve, no Farve equals no chance. Tavaris Jackson is bad and Sage is worse, bad personnel decision there Grossman would have been better (remember the bombs he threw to Barrian on the way to the Super Bowl).

Bears take the NFC Norris division with renewed defense and better offense.

I'm glad the Packers went with Aaron Rodgers last year. He was better than Favre last year. I'm excited about the Packers future with Rodgers.

I was getting tired of the will he/wont't he retire talk each year.

Then he actually goes and retires and then wants the Packers to come and beg him back.

I didn't really like Favre coming back and playing for the Jets but I will hate see him play with Purple. You just don't go to a hated rival. Fans will turn on him.

Leroy Butler is begging Favre not to come back on Twitter. He understands this. I wish Favre did too.

Pastor, you do know about JAY CUTLER right?

This blog post will self destruct not because of Favre but because of Cutler and my Bears!!!

How did "de-bears" get into this conversation? In the years Farve was QB, "de-bears" had like 18 QB!!!!

Cutler is OK... but he's no Farve and he still plays for "de-bears".

No back to our scheduled discussion on Vikes, Packers and NFL All-Star, Hall-famer... Brett Farve.

O Mark, get the NFL Sunday Ticket no matter what Favre does. You won't regret it! I'm not sure it's possible to really live without it!

Does any of this matter in the grand scheme of life and God's Kingdom? We all know in our hearts and souls that the Pittsburgh Steelers will repeat as Super Bowl Champions! Unless you finish first place, you are last.

Steelers Baby!

Sports talk says it's a done deal, Favre will be the Vikes QB this season. Of course, Favre could self distruct, but hopefully we'll get to see a few regular season games with him in purple before the arm goes.
Palms to the sky!

As a Cowboys fan (sorry), I am fascinated by your ability to love both the Vikings and the Pack. Just finished your "Lion" book-very encouraging and uplifting to my spirit. Thanks for sharing your love of Jesus in such a wonderful way. BHG, Murry Moore
