I had some fun 4th of July flashbacks today.
During our first year at National Community Church we held a Fourth of July picnic at our house. We invited the entire church. And the entire church fit comfortably!
I remember the extreme weather Independence days. I remember when we got soaking wet one year because of thunderstorms. And I remember the 100 degree heat when our Air Conditioning broke on the 4th. Miserable!
Finally, I remember watching the fireworks from under the Washington Monument one year and all the ashes from the fireworks were raining on us. I actually had to shower and shampoo to get the ashes out of my hair. Nasty but cool.
I love 4th of July in DC.
