My Second Birthday

Bookmark and Share

I celebrate my second birthday today. It was nine years ago today that my intestines ruptured and I had to go under the knife at 2 AM. I was on a respirator for two days. I lost 25 pounds in one week. And I should have died.

It was the worst experience of my life, but God turned it into the best experience of my life. Nothing like a near death experience to give you a unique appreciation for life.

Good to be alive!

Happy 9th 2nd Birthday, Mark! I'm one of your reasons (that you lived). I gave a message last year inspired by IAPWALOASD that transformed my life and many of the lives that heard the message that day. There must be hundreds of thousands of other reasons...

I'm certainly glasd you're around.

Having read your books and read your blog, I've noticed something. Have you noticed that God put you through that awful experience, and then your ministry and the ministry of NCC has exploded?

Thank God for that!

I've got a similar experience. When I was 14 my appendix ruptured. Two major surgeries, one near death moment after the veins in my arms and legs collapsed, one month and 35 pounds lighter, I finally was able to go home. I'll never forget the day I almost died. I was drifting in and out of consciousness, but every time I came around my dad (who was a pastor at the time) and an evangelist friend of his were praying over me. I'm so thankful for a dad who knew how to pray!
