Gut it Out

Bookmark and Share

I would describe the editing stage of writing as gutting it out. And this might sound strange, but I think it glorifies God. A book is more than a book. For me, it's an act of obedience. Lots of blood, sweat, and tears along the way!

I've been pushed to my physical and spiritual limits while writing this book. Lots of late nights and early mornings. I've actually had flashbacks to my athletic days. It feels like two-a-days. I remember coaches pushing me past my perceived limits. That's how I've felt during this process. At times I've had this thought: I can't do this. But I think back to all the challenges I've faced in the past. In some strange twist, being pushed as an athlete is helping me write this book!

I don't know what challenges you face. But here's my advice: keep gutting it out. Gutting it out glorifies God.

Thanks for the push and encouragement. I am in the midst of a DMin thesis and needed your inspiring words

More than that though...thanks for your books. I have been blessed and inspired by them and have recommended them to many others.

It was nice to see you and say hello to you in Ebenezer's this summer. We were the family of four visiting from South Korea.

Mark,

Congrats on finishing, and I came back across this post as encouragement for myself. I am in final edits on my first book right now and it is seeming to take forever! Looking forward to seeing you at Catalyst. Stop by the Land Of a Thousand Hills booth for a cup of coffee and say hello!
