Parker and I are headed out to Dewey Beach to run a spring triathlon this weekend. Super excited because I love a challenge!
One of the best recipes for a good relationship is going after a shared goal. I came up with my first life goal list about seven years ago. And most of the goals were personal in nature. Now most of my goals are relational. In other words, they involve another person like my wife or kids. Accomplishing a goal feels great. But accomplishing a shared goal feels twice as good.
Last year Parker and I ran our first sprint triathlon together. Hope it's an annual thing. Didn't train the way we could have or should have because of my writing deadline this summer. But it's gonna be a fun challenge! Can't wait to cross the finish line and head right to Fractured Prune for some donuts!

Love this, Mark. A shared goal can bring people together like few other things can. Michael and I took on the Nation's Tri together last weekend, and while it wasn't easy, our relationship grew exponentially.
i wouldnt come expecting summer weather, DE has really cooled down real quick
My 17 year-old son and I have been doing sprint tri's for two season's now. He smokes me every time but we have a blast. Last year due to a late entry he started way after me, but caught me about 1/4 mile from the finish. We were able to cross the finish line together. It's one of my favorite memories.
I read "spring" and thought, what??? I'm doing one Oct. 4, 1/2 mile swim, 18 mile bike, 4 mile run.
