Take a deep breath. Now let it out.
When we take a deep breath and let it out it has a physiological effect. It relaxes us. It relieves tension. It recalibrates us.
That is what happens when I think about the sovereignty of God. Reminding myself that God is sovereign is like a deep spiritual breath. God is in control. God is ordering my footsteps. God is setting me up for good deeds. God has a plan and purpose for my life. That not only gives me a sense of destiny about my life. It takes all the pressure off of me. It helps me relax spiritually.
I think that is one dimension of the "rest" described in Hebrews 4.

Amen!
And once the pressure is off, pray like it depends on God and work like it depends on you! Heard somebody say that once...
simple truth, yet powerful, and lasting consequences... The thought of me not having to worry about "outcomes" takes so much pressure off... thanks for this post...
