There is an old saying: "mark my words." Let me redeem it. As a preacher, I know my human limitations. I'm a work in progress. And I'm not omniscient. But I am anointed to preach. And I don't preach my own words. I preach His Word. So don't mark my words. Mark His Word.
I preach with confidence because I preach His word. And Isaiah 55:11 says: "My Word does not return void."
So don't mark my words. Mark His Word.

Jesus was in effect saying: Don't take my word for it. Take His Word.
John 12:49-50, The Father who sent me (Jesus) gave me his own instructions as to what I should say...so i say whatever the Father tells me to say!
yes your are totally right. we are also commanded to speak the truth of His word in love. it is hard sometimes to do that. sometimes we must confront the truth of Gods words in our lives and others too. sin becomes a bigger issue of this, we must not become so modern and relevant that we dimish talking about sin. TRANSFORMATION of self and others is the key word here. we must let God work in us to transform our sinful nature. this will come through Gods word and how we present Gods word and work of Gods spirit
When Jesus went into teach in the Capernaum synagogue. Mark says the people were amazed because he taught with authority. Not like teachers of the law.
It is God's words that have authority, the man who will take what is given to him from the Father and speak (teach) will with authority of the Spirit. Not just words spoken with not belief but as Paul stated with a demonstration of the Spirit's power.
Good post, a lesson to be taken very seriously.
I love that we must remember to mark his word. It's so important that we remember our depravity and the sinfulness of our hearts. It is God who does any good within us- allowing us to preach his word. He is the perfect one, and the one who does his work through us!
Looking forward to hearing you at LeadNow/Fusion.
