No One Has Thought of Yet

Bookmark and Share

I have a core conviction that gets me up early and keeps me up late: there are ways of doing church that no one has thought of yet.

I issue that challenge and offer that encouragement almost everywhere I go. And I did at Liberty as well. But what made it unique this time around is that Dr. Elmer Towns was on stage. When I was in college I read a book by Dr. Towns, 10 of Today's Most Innovative Churches. I can't even put into words how much that book inspired me. It dared me to be different. Pretty profound moment for me to be speaking with Dr. Towns right behind me listening.

By the way, I was uber-impressed with staff and students @ Liberty! Only wish I'd had a little more time.

I've been pondering that for the last month since you mentioned that at the CMA conference here in KC last month. Have had some "Weird" thoughts and dreams, but if they are weird or wild enough, they just may be from God. Keep chasing the Goose bro!

How do you foster innovation in your church without having ministry proliferation and lack of order to your ministries?

OK Mark, I'm going to say it cause it's goofy enough to say it. What about our COUNTY SEAT Court Houses, our courtrooms! They are "CLOSED for BUSINESS" on Sundays and the Gov could sure use the revenue? There, that is what my first dream was. WHEW. I Feel better now!
